As a versatile program and project management professional, I offer a unique combination of skills and
experience with a record of accomplishment in two distinctly different facets of the healthcare industry. My
broad contributions in IT, systems and business process solutions and healthcare administration are
complemented by extensive achievements in the merger and acquisitions side of the industry.
At organizations such as Catholic Health Initiatives, Wellstar Health System, Kaiser Permanente
Health Plan and Health Capital Consultants, I have directed a wide variety of projects and programs
that delivered measurable improvements across a multitude of key performance metrics that includes
revenue, profits, and reimbursement rates. At the same time, I reengineered business processes and
systems to improve efficiency, productivity, quality accuracy and reliability while driving down costs and
ensuring regulatory compliance.
At several of those same organizations, I was instrumental in orchestrating M&A and divestiture deals,
including the purchase or sale of numerous hospitals and medical practices. In this capacity, I played a
key role in everything from planning, valuations and due diligence to negotiations and post-merger
integrations. I also have extensive experience in business development, managing the profitable sale of
ongoing IT and systems support services to the acquirers in many of those M&A transactions.
At your organization I could make a strong impact by:
! Streamlining processes & systems to maximize performance across a wide range of KPIs
! Aligning IT & systems to meet demanding corporate, client & stakeholder expectations
! Developing & implementing business transformation management & technology roadmaps
! Orchestrating complex M&A & divestiture transactions & post-closing transitions
! Recruiting, mentoring & motivating top performing multidisciplinary teams
! Negotiating aggressive contracts with suppliers, providers & payers
! Ensuring strict governance & rigorous regulatory compliance
Known as a natural leader, penetrating analyst, forward-thinking strategist, persuasive communicator,
trusted advisor and shrewd negotiator. Education includes a Master of Health Administration from
University of Missouri-Columbia, a BSBA in Economics from Northern Arizona University, a Six Sigma
Green Belt and Change Acceleration Process certification.

CAREER HISTORY & SELECTED HIGHLIGHTS
Sr. Healthcare Valuation Consultant, Health Capital Consultants, 2015-Present. Recruited to conduct
valuations/appraisals in potential hospital/practice M&A transactions, and subject matter expertise in
litigation support matters. Accomplishments include:
Played a key role winning a legal dispute. HCC was working with a client, Emergency
Physicians Limited (EPL), a hospital emergency room practice in WI, that believed the
practice and its patients were being overcharged by a third-party billing service firm.
Served as an expert witness in litigation that went to trial over the dispute. Provided
detailed testimony demonstrating misapplication of the contractually agreed upon
reimbursement formula that resulted in hundreds of thousands in excess charges.
Contributed to a victorious judgment by the court in favor of EPL and the award of $500K
in monetary damages.
Sr. IT Transaction Manager, Catholic Health Initiatives, 2010-2015. Recruited to direct all IT functions
related to mergers, acquisitions, divestitures, partnerships and other transactions, managing applications,
tech services, data security, HR, networking and contracting teams. Negotiated Information Technology
Services Agreements. Notable achievements
Orchestrated an M&A transaction & profitable post-sale IT transition. Recruited by
CHI to direct all IT-related facets of mergers, acquisitions and divestitures, asked to
manage the sale of three large hospitals in the Northwest. Managed negotiations with the
acquirer, Trinity Health, for IT Service Agreements (ITSAs) with CHI providing ongoing
application, technical, network support and other services. Completed the transaction and
post-sale IT/systems transition on schedule. Generated $2.5M in annual IT-based
services revenue for CHI.
Negotiated a $15.5M multiyear IT services agreement. CHI was looking to divest a
large East Coast academic medical center. Assembled a team to plan and execute the IT
aspects of the transaction and post-sale transition. Developed and negotiated an IT
Services Agreement (ITSA) to provide ongoing support to the acquirer. Captured $5M+ in
profitable annual revenue from the three-year deal. Completed the transaction and
seamless transition on time.
Managed sensitive corporate communications in an M&A deal. While CHI was
planning the sale of St. Joseph’s Hospital to the University of Maryland Medical System,
rumors began to circulate among CHI staff. Developed a proactive communications
strategy. Serving as a single point of contact for stakeholders, squelched rumors,
eliminated confusion about future operations and maintained morale. Avoided potentially
damaging leaks that threatened violation of the mandated pre-closing quiet period and
staff retention. Enabled the $100M+ transaction to close “without a hitch.”
Sr. IT Project Manager, Wellstar Health System, 2010. Recruited for a one-year contract assignment to
manage post-M&A IT integrations. Conducted needs analyses and develop strategic technology
roadmaps. Served as an SME on infrastructure, networks, applications and other IT/IS matters.
Accomplishments include:
Directed seamless post-M&A integrations. Wellstar was engaged in a rapid growth
initiative, acquiring numerous medical practices. Recruited to lead the transitions and
startup of the new entities. Conducted comprehensive evaluations of IT and business
processes at the acquired practices. Identified requirements and gaps. Specified

applications, systems, connectivity solutions and systems integration vendors for the new
practices. Completed nine integrations well within tight time and budget constraints.
Kaiser Permanente Health Plan (Kaiser), 2001-2010. Steadily promoted, roles include:
Sr. Project Manager, Kaiser Permanente Health Plan, 2008-2010. Promoted to direct national
member administration projects. Developed business and compliance processes to meet CMS
Medicare-Medicaid regulatory mandates. Contributions include:
Cured costly compliance gaps, saving millions. Kaiser faced steep penalties for
failing to meet CMS-mandated Medicare reporting requirements. Led a team that
conducted thorough reviews of compliance, sales and membership operations. Identified
deficiencies, recommending and implementing process, policy, systems and training
improvements. Ensured 100% on-time compliance with all required secondary payer
reporting. Generated a potential 41-fold return on the $120K cost of the improvements by
avoiding upwards of $5M in fines.
Reengineered billing/reimbursement systems, capturing $8M in revenue. Flaws in
Kaiser’s systems resulted in millions failing to be paid by contracting hospitals for
services by Kaiser providers. Working with application specialists, revamped software for
capturing cost sharing plan details in billings. Streamlined processes for providers to
generate accurate, complete and timely bills. Recouped millions in previously unbilled
revenue from surgical and cardiology practices.
Earlier roles at Kaiser include:
Business Manager, 2007-2008. Promoted to develop and implement new billing and
reimbursement solutions.
Regional Project Manager, 2004-2006. Promoted to manage regulatory compliance, including
implementation of new CMS requirements (Medicare Part D).
Consultant, 2001-2004. Recruited to manage a wide variety of projects, including workflow
analyses, physician recruitment processes, knowledge management systems and financial/ROI
analyses.
Earlier: Recruited and repeatedly promoted at Health Capital Consultants; roles include Sr. Manager,
Manager and Associate. Began healthcare career as an intern during graduate school at Northern
Arizona Healthcare.
EDUCATION, TRAINING & CERTIFICATIONS
Master of Health Administration from University of Missouri-Columbia.
Bachelor of Science in Business Administration in Economics from Northern Arizona University.
Six Sigma Green Belt.
Change Acceleration Process certification.
