Wireless Router: This is how it Benefits
Wireless Router is an extended product that combines a simple wireless AP and a
broadband router. It not only has all the functions of a simple wireless AP, such as
supporting DHCP client, supporting VPN, firewall, WEP encryption, etc. It also
includes Network Address Translation (NAT), which supports network connection
sharing for LAN users. It can realize Internet connection sharing in the home wireless
network, and realize wireless shared access of ADSL, Cable modem and community
broadband. The wireless router can be directly connected to all Ethernet-connected
ADSL MODEM or CABLE MODEM, or can be re-connected through a LAN such as a
switch/hub or a broadband router during use. It has built-in simple virtual dialing
software, which can store user name and password for dial-up Internet access. It can

standard uses the WEP (Wired Equivalent Privacy) protocol to set up a special
security mechanism for encryption of service flows and authentication of nodes. It is
mainly used for the confidentiality of link layer information data in wireless local area
networks. WEP uses a symmetric encryption mechanism, and the same key and
encryption algorithm are used for data encryption and decryption. WEP uses an
encryption key (also known as a WEP key) to encrypt the data portion of each packet
exchanged on the 802.11 network. When encryption is enabled, two 802.11 devices
must communicate and must have encryption and the same encryption key. WEP
encryption is disabled by default, that is, it is not encrypted. Wireless security
parameters are optional and generally have three parameters, as follows:
(1) WEP key format: hexadecimal digits; ASCII characters.
(2) WEP encryption level: disable encryption function; 40 (64) bit encryption; 128 bit
encryption. The default value is Disable Encryption.
(3) WEP key value: set by the user.
The wireless router works in conjunction with a wireless network card that supports
encryption to encrypt and transmit data, making it difficult for others to steal your
information. The WEP key can be a set of randomly generated hexadecimal digits or
an ASCII character selected by the user. In general, we use the latter and input it
manually. Each wireless broadband router and wireless workstation must use the
same key to communicate. However, encryption is optional, and most wireless
routers default to disable encryption. Encryption can have an impact on transmission
efficiency.
