Wordpress WordPress is an open source blog publishing application and can be used for basic  content   management .  WordPress is an open-source  CMS  designed for blogging, but easily modified to enable the management of an entire website. More than thousands of plugins,widgets,themes are available.
WordPress is the most popular blog software in use today. It was first released in  May 2003  by Matt Mullenweg as a fork of b2/cafelog. As of  September 2009 , it was being used by 202 million websites worldwide.
Features WordPress has a templating system, which includes widgets that can be rearranged without editing  PHP  or  HTML  code. More advanced customizations. WordPress also features integrated link management; a  search engine-friendly , clean permalink structure; the ability to assign nested, multiple categories to articles; and support for tagging of posts and articles.
Automatic  filters  that provide for proper formatting and styling of text in articles (for example, converting regular quotes to smart quotes) are also included. WordPress also supports the  Trackback  and  Pingback  standards for displaying links to other sites that have themselves linked to a post or article.
Deployment WordPress can be deployed using various methods on a hosting environment.  Users have the option to download the current version of WordPress from  WordPress.org. WordPress can also be installed via  package   management system .
History Wordpress first appeared in  2003  and it was jointly created by  Matt Mullenweg  and  Mike   Little . The name  wordpress  was suggested by Matt Mullenweg's friend  Christine Selleck.
Awards The wordpress won the award  packt open source cms in  2007. It won the best open source award in  2009 .
CREATING AN ACCOUNT and LOGGING IN To begin, open your web browser and type  http://wordpress.com/  in the url bar. Press sign up now.It’s redirects to registration  page.Fill all the fields and submit it.Now a mail  has been send to your mentioned mail id. Login to your mail id and click on the link  activate your account. Now your account is activated and ready to  use.
Logged In Make use of your desired  login id  and  password. you can login in to the wordpress.
Dashboard After your succesful login.the homepage will redirects the  dashboard. Posts(Edit,Add new,post tags,categories). Media(Library,Add new). Links(Edit,Add new,Link categories). Pages(Edit,Add new). Comments. Ratings(settings,reports). Polls(Edit,Add new,customstyles,options).
Writing/Saving blog POST is used to wrtite and save our blogs. EDIT is used to change or make correction in  your blogs which is posted already. ADD NEW is used to create a new post. CATEGORIES is used to create your post  under categories.
Designing your blog Change theme. Change header and image colour.
Comments In WordPress, people have the option to leave comments on your site. To manage comments that have been left for you, click on the „Comments‟ tab on the Dashboard and from there you can moderate.  Each comment is listed and you can decide if you want to approve the comment, the comment is spam or if you would like to delete it.
