- 1. Work Diary – Animation Evaluation: Another technique that I have had to learn is animation. I liked learning how to the animation as it allows you as a photo to show more than one photo as a final piece and perhaps by doing so get across a message in or change the feel of the overall final piece through a combination of photos. I did two different shoots to get the animation pieces that I made (one from a shoot I did during the animation class and then I used some of the photos I took in the sequencing class). Admittedly I didn’t like shooting animation as much, but I think this is because I felt uninspired by what I was asked to shoot – limited in a way. I think that I would have enjoyed it much more had I been shooting something more of my style/interest. Here are two examples of my work; the daisy one is from the sequencing class and the one in the street is from the animation class. I like the daisy animation that I did as I think it is fluent and I like the idea behind it. Though it is simple I think it is a good demonstration of the technique animation. I made this animation in Photoshop just like when I did the sequencing – I really like using Photoshop for this as I find it simple and logical to use. On the other hand though, I made the other animation of the street in iMovie. I don’t like this animation as much but I think my opinion of it is highly influenced by the software I made it on – I don’t like iMovie at all! I also think that this animation is not as fluent as the other one that I made, but I think this is simply due to the fact that there wasn’t as much movement in the street as I had liked. I think the software I used for this could also be to blame and it is something that I will need to sit down and practice using, just like I did when I first started using Photoshop last year. One thing that I think I need to be extremely careful with in the future is when I am individually editing the photos is ensuring that all the levels and curves etc. that I change remain the same on each photo for continuity reasons. I think I could have been more accurate with this in some of my shots. Idea Development: In terms of inspiring me, this technique most certainly has – again for my proposed project! I think I would like to look at the application of makeup perhaps, and how I could turn this into an animation. A photographer that has particularly inspired me is Danielle Tustall – I found on Youtube an electronic portfolio of her work. Tunstall likes to combine graphic design with here photography and in some sections of the video shows the stages of the photo slowly having the graphics effects added onto until you see the final piece. I thought it might be a nice idea to do something where I start with a blank face and then slowly add the makeup through the animation. I think this would work particularly well with surreal or fantasy makeup as the change would be more dramatic and there would be a greater opportunity for more photos, making my work more detailed and complex. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xMHgGM2JT4c
