This document provides information about a 5th grade unit of inquiry on investigating historical events from different interpretations of the past. The central idea is that different interpretations of the past can be discovered by investigating historical events. Key lines of inquiry include how we know about the past, how we interpret sources about the past, and perspectives on significant historical events. Students will take action by being open-minded about different perspectives and critically evaluating sources. Assessment will focus on students' understanding, skills in analyzing and evaluating historical information and sources, and ability to articulate answers and pose relevant questions.
