Acceleration
Acceleration
● Acceleration is the change in velocity with time.
● Remember that velocity is a vector and is essentially speed in a given direction.
● Signs of acceleration
○ Speeding up
○ Slowing down
○ Change in direction
● A constant non-zero acceleration does NOT mean the object is staying at the same
velocity.
● A constant non-zero acceleration means that the object is speeding up, slowing
down or changing direction at a constant rate, but it is still changing.
● The units are usually m/s2
or m/s/s...that means that the velocity is changing a
certain number of meters per second for every second.
