Manufacturing Engineering- Program Manager II
Compaq/HewlettPackard
Houston,TX
November 1998 to April 2002
My experience with assembling products on the assemblyline to repairing the defective products and then working
on a team of technicians thatcontrolled the work instructions involving the entire manufacturing floor process to
managing thatteam gave me very intricate skills to perform this role.I was made responsible for readiness for our
new phase of customer products thatwere considered configure to order.I coordinated all phases involving tooling,
building, testing and packaging to produce the required product.Since it was a new process for us I had to create
specific processes to align with this new business which involved risk analysis, new readiness checklists, new build of
material structures, new assemblycell structures, assettagging, producttracking and identifying tools required that
were away from our standard practice as well as structuring our relatively new SAP system to accommodate this new
business model.Since the program was new I had to address constantchanges in manpower requirements and
resources.Ihad to I performed time standards on new processes to optimize performance levels and time- lines for
customer delivery. I would monitor each pilotbuild until the product was ready for mass production.I was involved
with dozens of pilotbuilds a month.I owned and authored the manufacturing engineering standard operating
procedures and work instructions to consistentlycontrol and maintain our qualitylevel of operation.I reviewed quality
indices and helped in providing solutions in reducing or preventing issues.I kept a daily downtime reporting log to
address issues real time and to adjustprocesses to prevent future downtime issues.I had to routinely conduct very
efficient meetings to meetdelivery requirements.Iresponded and closed any8 Discipline reports in a timelymanner.
I consistentlymetor exceeded deadlines.Iwas responsible for interfacing with design engineering, electrical
engineering,mechanical engineering,packaging engineering,materials engineering,management,clientservices
and planning to provide the seamless readiness and execution ofnot only configure to order products butnew
productlaunches servicing over 200 countries and nearlybillion dollar accounts.Iwas made the single point
manufacturing contactfor all North American products involving desktop, portable and server products.
Manufacturing Engineering Methods Supervisor
Compaq/HewlettPackard
Houston,TX
August 1987 to November 1998
I supervised all the method technicians on all shifts and all Houston sites. The areas involved were assembly, test,
repair, quality, and packaging of desktop, workstations, servers, laptops and all optional peripherals processed at
these sites.I was responsible for aligning staffing requirements for business needs.I performed performance reviews
of the technicians for periodical salaryalignments.I was able to coach, train and manage more effectively due to my
experience as a methods technician allowing me to quicklyunderstand the needs, strengths and possibilities ofthat
position.I was able to modifythe organizational scope ofthat position. Imanaged and approved the implementation
of timely and accurate work instructions thattranslated engineering documentation into user friendlydocuments for
manufacturing use.Iauthored and maintained engineering specification documents.I held daily meetings to update
staff on safety, quality and production items.Imanaged the transition from Auto-Cad illustrated assembly, testand
pack instructional documents to an on-line,web-based,paperless,real-time onscreen approach. This became the
global approach for our assemblysites.More attention to engineering developmentwas made due to the reduction of
paper trail validations and confirmations.Itraveled domesticallyand internationallyaccording to business needs.
My prior positions atCompaq such as testand repair operator in 1987 and becoming a method technician in 1991
positioned me for this position.
