Z-Day YOU have survived the zombie apocalypse.  YOU have been appointed to a group of special researchers referred to by the remaining government as “the Brain Trust” YOU will help the government find sources of information that will help survivors avoid zombies, and help the world rebuild. YOU must succeed….the fate of the world is in your hands!

Your first Mission: A list of Topics for the President The first meeting of the Zombie Research Society is now called to order! We need a list of topics to provide sources for the President and remaining government.  The country needs rebuilt. We need to find energy sources.  We need to protect ourselves from Zombies and other sources of destruction.  We will need food and shelter. Our first meeting MUST end with a list of potential research topics.  Topics that can save the world! Ideas?

Special Request from the POTUS The president requests that all research topics come with 3 questions.  Example. Topic: Wind Energy Q1: Where are the best locations to provide wind energy for the U.S.? Q2: What are the costs involved with wind energy?
Today’s Concepts: Narrowing down a topic Choosing a topic that interests you AND is good for research Forming research questions around your topic
Second Brain Trust Mission Chose a topic Explain your topic choice How does your topic help save the world? Write three research questions  on your topic DUE THURSDAY.

Editor's Notes

  • #6: On a serious note – when deciding a topic, it is important to start big, but work small. If you topic is too big, you will find too much information! We started with a big big topic or Zombie Apocolypse (or rebuilding after a disaster), and are narrowing it down into smaller pieces.
  • #7: Topic ideas: Solar power or alternative energy; Gardening; City planning; economic recovery after a disaster; New Orleans as a case study; Stress; public safety. Get into groups of 3 and brainstorm topic ideas. Be creative!
