- 1. The History of POP The genre I want to use for my magazine is pop, this is because I believe that pop magazine have the most distinctive features and are the easiest to identify.
- 2. Pop Music is a term that was abbreviated from the word "popular”. The genre popular music originated in its modern form in the 1950s, coming from rock and roll, jazz and classical. The term pop song was first recorded as being used in 1926, as a piece of music had “popular appeal". In 1967 pop started to become an opposition to rock. Rock aspired to authenticity whereas pop was more commercial. As time went on, the pop genre grew as better equipment was developed allowing musicians to achieve more complex singing styles.
- 3. Pop music is the most common type of magazine you find therefore it would be most beneficial to create mine in the style of pop as there is plenty of examples I could use to inspire my own work.
