Hana Brady lived in Czechoslovakia in the 1930s. She displayed courage and strength from a young age by playing with boys and competing against her brother. During the late 1930s, Hitler rose to power in Germany and began persecuting Jews. Hana's mother was arrested by the Gestapo and sent to a concentration camp. Hana was then deported to Theresienstadt and later Auschwitz. Throughout her imprisonment, Hana remained hopeful that she would survive and reunite with her family, showing remarkable courage and strength in the face of tremendous hardship and loss.
