Jesus warns of false disciples who claim to follow him but do not obey his teachings. He tells of two types of false disciples - those who verbally profess faith but do not act, and those who hear his words but do not obey them. To illustrate this second type, Jesus describes two builders - one who builds his house on a solid rock foundation by obeying Jesus' teachings, and one who builds on sand by not obeying. When troubles come, only the house built on the rock remains standing. True disciples are known by both hearing and obeying Jesus' words.
