About us
SITA was established in 1999 to consolidate and coordinate the State’s information technology resources in order to achieve cost savings through scale, increase delivery capabilities and enhance interoperability. SITA is committed to leveraging Information Technology (IT) as a strategic resource for government, managing the IT procurement and delivery process to ensure that the Government gets value for money, and using IT to support the delivery of e-Government services to all citizens. In short, SITA is the IT business for the largest employer and consumer of IT products and services in South Africa – the Government. Furthermore, the Act separates SITA's services into mandatory services (i.e. SITA must provide), and non-mandatory services (i.e. SITA may provide). SITA remains committed in all its engagements to adhere to the Government’s "IT House of Values", aiming to achieve reduced costs, increased productivity and increased service to our citizens.

Resilience, Growth and Leadership: Primrose Ramuageli’s Journey at SITA For nearly two decades, Primrose Ramuageli has built an inspiring career at SITA, rising from intern to Senior Manager: NOC. Her journey reflects what is possible when perseverance, learning and opportunity align. Primrose joined SITA in 2002 as a Graduate Intern and quickly progressed into network engineering roles. Each chapter of her career, whether as a Network Engineer, Consultant, or Lead Consultant, brought valuable lessons that strengthened her technical expertise and leadership abilities. In 2025, she stepped into her current role, leading teams and projects that underpin SITA’s network operations. Her success was forged in moments of challenge, including navigating the shift from Nortel to Cisco technologies, which required constant upskilling and adaptability. With certifications in Cisco, Nortel, N+ and ITIL, and leadership training from the University of Pretoria, Primrose has consistently demonstrated the power of staying future-ready in a dynamic ICT landscape. For Primrose, leadership is about more than personal milestones; it is about uplifting others and creating a culture of shared excellence. Her message to her peers is one of curiosity, courage and growth: “Stay curious. Embrace discomfort. Lean into the journey.” Her story is a powerful reminder that at SITA, growth is not just possible; it is inevitable when passion meets perseverance. #WomenInTech #WomensMonth #EmpowerHer

Resilience, Adaptability and Growth: Hlengiwe’s Journey at SITA. After an unexpected retrenchment, Hlengiwe Mosokotso faced a career crossroads. With a strong background in IT and Telecommunications, she was determined to rebuild and found the opportunity to do so at SITA. She joined in March 2024 as a Lab and GRC Coordinator in the ICT Certification team, where she combined her technical expertise with governance, risk and compliance. Transitioning into a new organisation brought challenges, but Hlengiwe leaned on her resilience, drew from her experience and embraced every learning opportunity. She highlights the importance of valuing one’s skills, adapting to change and nurturing supportive professional relationships. Today, Hlengiwe is thriving in her role, ensuring compliance, strengthening lab management processes and inspiring others who may be navigating uncertainty. Her story is proof that even the most difficult setbacks can lead to growth, renewal and greater impact. #WomenInTech #WomensMonth #EmpowerHer
