Cofinimmo expresses gratitude to The Shift vzw/asbl and the Vice-Prime Minister and Federal Minister of Economy David Clarinval for today’s initiative (with the presence of our CEO Jean-Pierre Hanin and our Head of Sustainability Hanna De Groote) at the Carmeuse site in Aisemont together with Jan De Nul Group, Colas Belgium and VELUX. ♻️ As a pioneer in sustainability for over 15 years, Cofinimmo integrates environmental, social, and governance principles across all its operations. The focus of today's visit and round table was on environmental sustainability and circularity, aiming to reduce reliance on raw materials and energy with the appropriate supply chains. As a founding member of The Shift, Cofinimmo has also implemented numerous energy-saving measures across its property portfolio. Between 2018 and 2024, the company achieved a 27% reduction in energy intensity across its consolidated portfolio. Importantly, these pragmatic and data-driven efforts have not hindered operational growth and also help tenants manage their costs. So we firmly believe that the last thing we should do now is to lower our environmental and climate ambitions.

🌟 We are thrilled to welcome Giulia Artioli as our new Accountant, who joined Cofinimmo on September 1st. Giulia will be supporting our Belgian entities. With nearly 20 years of experience in accounting and a background in translation and interpretation, Giulia brings a unique blend of linguistic fluency and financial expertise. Her career spans cross-country finance teams, where she’s driven system implementations and improved payment efficiency. Today, we had the pleasure of hosting a Sustainability Academy session with archipelago architects! Together, we explored the importance of Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) in the construction and real estate sector. Thanks to the expertise of archipelago, we delved into decarbonisation, circularity, and environmental performance, with concrete examples and feedback from innovative healthcare projects. Key takeaways from the session: ✔️ Why integrating research and environmental analysis from the design stage is essential, ✔️ How European regulations are accelerating the shift towards low-carbon buildings, ✔️ The main levers to reduce carbon footprint, from structure to façade and material choices, ✔️ The crucial role of circularity and reuse in sustainable construction. We are pleased to announce that our first nursing and care home in the Granada province has been delivered earlier than planned to our tenant Grupo Reifs - Fundación Reifs, expanding Cofinimmo's presence in the Spanish healthcare real estate landscape. The facility, with 180 beds and 9,100 m² of space, combines accessibility and sustainability, with nearby public transport, green spaces, and bike parking. Equipped with solar technology and smart metering, it aims for an A-level energy certificate and a BREEAM Excellent rating.
