The second part of the fifth round of Plastics Treaty negotiations (INC-5.2) has adjourned after a haphazard process that extended the negotiations for an extra day, but ended without a clear agreement on the path forward. Civil society urges world leaders to persevere towards a strong, legally binding treaty that cuts plastic production and protects human health, human rights, and the environment. The #PlasticsTreaty is a rare opportunity to tackle the global plastic crisis - it should not be wasted. Last month we met with Commissioner Jessika Roswall to discuss the urgency of the plastic crisis. We handed over our open letter calling for the EU to take an ambitious role in the Global Plastics Treaty negotiations. In our conversation Commissioner Roswall reconfirmed the EU’s commitment to a successful treaty, recognising the huge opportunity the treaty presents. Wind First! Wind assisted ship propulsion is the way to go when it comes to decarbonising the maritime industry
