📢Announcing our keynote speakers! Meet Selene Yang. A vibrant and visionary Latin American queer feminist, #community organiser, #mapmaker, and Co-Founder of Geochicas. Her #research focuses on analysing the process of collecting, editing, and curating open #geospatial #data in OpenStreetMap from a feminist perspective. Currently, she is an energetic force in her role at Wikimedia Foundation as a Senior Specialist in Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion. She holds a PhD in Social Communication from the Universidad Nacional de La Plata and is a Research Fellow at the Digital Civil Society Lab and Stanford University. Selene is also part of the FAIR network for feminist AI, Tierra Común for data decolonization, and the Communication and Public Policy Research Center of the School of Communication of the Universidad Nacional de La Plata. 📢Announcing our keynote speakers! Meet Hirini Tane. The ardent yet grounded Co-founder of Takarangi Research, a Māori #community focused company, and the Māori Strategic Capability Lead at Te Whare Wānaka o Aoraki (LincolnUniversity NZ). He has also been involved with Te Potiki National Trust, and the website https://maorimaps.com/ since 2010. His journey began in the small marae community of Oromahoe in the Bay of Islands, Northland. He completed a doctorate at the University of Otago, Dunedin, exploring the past-present and future of his village. The general theme of his #research interests is understanding something of the #relationship between #people, #land and #water; notions of #Māori #land tenure, marae, trusteeship, genealogical layering, tribal identity and belonging.
