About us
At the Social Mobility Foundation, we work for a society where people from all social backgrounds can thrive, and all young people can explore and nurture their talents. We do this through opening up opportunities for young people with fewer options through our Aspiring Professionals Programme, and breaking down barriers in our systems through our campaigning work, always working alongside our community. Because when we foster the potential of all of our young people, we lift up every member of our communities.

We're proud to create opportunities alongside CNX Therapeutics | B Corp™ Certified 🌟 This award highlights our partnership's impact and our shared commitment to ensuring young people from all backgrounds can thrive 🚀
A fantastic evening at the Pharma Industry Awards UK earlier this week. Great to come away with a win in the CSR Programme of the Year category for our work with The Social Mobility Foundation, bringing five amazing interns to CNX. Even London's travel chaos and the unpredictable weather couldn't put a dampener on our mood! A huge thanks to everyone who contributed to making the programme a success! Looking forward to next year's event already! #pharma #teamcnx #socialmobility

🚑 We all depend on our health service—so it should represent us all. But the results of this new research are a hard pill to swallow: 💊 Children of doctors are 100 times more likely to become doctors than the children of bus drivers, security guards and care workers 💊 Having a parent with a professional occupation makes you 6 times more likely to become a doctor than if they have a working-class job 💊 People from working-class backgrounds are no more likely to become doctors now than in the 1960s Opening up medical careers would be a win-win—more doctors with broader patient understanding and better opportunities for bright young people. 📊 The Government’s committed to collecting socioeconomic data for the NHS workforce, which is a good first step. We need this to happen quickly and comprehensively, broken down by role and seniority. And we need them to make all large employers follow suit. Because nobody’s class should block them from their dream career. Read more ⤵️ https://lnkd.in/eeDfx7-9

The Social Mobility Foundation reposted this
We’re committed to supporting society and our communities, making positive and lasting impact. Our purpose is to help people live financially confident lives and increasing social mobility is an important part of that. We want people to flourish from all walks of life. Today, A-Level students across the UK will receive their exam results. But for many, their background continues to shape their futures. In partnership with the The Social Mobility Foundation, we’re sharing new insights into how the cost of learning crisis is affecting young people’s ability to reach their potential. We hope the research will help shape the national conversation about how to create a more inclusive and supportive system for young people in the future. LV= Chief Executive, David Hynam, shares his thoughts. https://lnkd.in/e85dNH-k #LVTogether #ThisIsUs #ThisIsLV

Nearly half of UK students are skipping meals. Not because they’re busy—because they’re broke. That’s one of the findings from our new Unheard Voices research, in partnership with LV=. A-level results day is a time of celebration and excitement, when young people open their results find out their next steps in education. But today’s students are faced with a cost of learning crisis: unable to afford to study away from home, for many their only choice is a local uni or no uni at all. For those studying now, many are skipping the essentials. 🧑🏫 1 in 4 students from working-class backgrounds have skipped teaching 🎾 6 in 10 have missed out on activities with clubs and societies because they couldn’t afford to go This is harming students’ potential and worsening the skills shortage. The Government should reintroduce maintenance grants for poorer university students so they can spend their degree studying, not struggling.
