Carli Myers is spending her summer as a land development intern with Perry Homes, where she’s gaining hands-on experience across all stages of the development process—from raw land to completed homes. She’s learning how Perry evaluates new opportunities based on location, market conditions, and other strategic factors. In addition to site visits, Carli is also developing her understanding of the legal side of the industry, including how to interpret contracts between builders and land developers and navigate the associated legal terminology. She shares that she’s loved every minute of her internship so far and is especially grateful for her two managers, who have played a key role in mentoring her and helping her build valuable skills both in the office and out in the field. Jaiden Arcuri is spending his summer in New York City as a Portfolio Management Intern with Tishman Speyer. In this role, Jaiden helps oversee Speyer’s separate managed accounts (SMAs), which serve as primary investment vehicles for both development and acquisition deals. He tracks performance, manages capital planning, and contributes to overall fund modeling. Reflecting on his experience, Jaiden shares, “𝐼𝑛 𝑐𝑙𝑎𝑠𝑠, 𝑡ℎ𝑒 𝑐𝑜𝑛𝑐𝑒𝑝𝑡𝑠 𝑎𝑟𝑒 𝑐𝑙𝑒𝑎𝑛: 𝑟𝑒𝑡𝑢𝑟𝑛 𝑚𝑒𝑡𝑟𝑖𝑐𝑠, 𝑒𝑞𝑢𝑖𝑡𝑦, 𝑑𝑒𝑏𝑡, 𝑒𝑡𝑐. 𝐼𝑛 𝑝𝑟𝑎𝑐𝑡𝑖𝑐𝑒, 𝑖𝑡’𝑠 𝑎 𝑙𝑖𝑣𝑖𝑛𝑔, 𝑏𝑟𝑒𝑎𝑡ℎ𝑖𝑛𝑔 𝑠𝑡𝑟𝑎𝑡𝑒𝑔𝑦.” At Tishman Speyer, he’s applying that theoretical knowledge to real, complex deals—learning firsthand how world-class developers and REITs structure equity across multiple vehicles, layer debt strategically, and align decisions with investor goals. This experience has reshaped Jaiden’s outlook on his future in real estate. Portfolio management sits at the intersection of capital markets, development and acquisitions, asset management, and investor relations. From the top down, you gain a comprehensive view of how the entire machine operates. Stay tuned as we continue to highlight the incredible journeys of our students this summer!
