  • 💙 We are so grateful for the support shown through all the phone calls, messages, cards, flowers, and visits that have brought comfort to our team during this difficult time. A heartfelt thank you to Roseville Police Department, Auburn Police Department, and the Placer County District Attorney’s Office for bringing extra love through your furry friends—Butters, Toast, and Bolo—who lifted spirits in our offices. We are also deeply appreciative of our fellow probation departments across neighboring counties who offered to cover shifts, reached out with thoughtful messages, and stopped by to show support. Your kindness and solidarity remind us that we are never alone in this work. A special thank you as well to the Placer County Chaplains for standing with us during this time. The love is truly felt. 💙 #CommunitySupport #ProbationFamily #PlacerCountyProbation

  • Leadership in Action: Meet Senior Officer Fred Holman We’re proud to introduce Senior Officer Fred Holman, a valued member of our department and now a well-deserved addition to our leadership team. Fred grew up in Colfax and attended Chico State, where his passion for helping others and enjoying the outdoors began to take shape. Off duty, he enjoys water and snow skiing, boating with friends and family, and his latest hobby—frisbee golf. His first job was as a Day Camp Counselor with Auburn Recreation District, leading kindergarten graduates who called him “Mr. Fred.” This early experience sparked a career built on service, mentorship, and making an impact. Fred began in Dispatch at Chico PD, becoming the first male dispatcher there in nearly a decade. He later worked in PCSO Dispatch for three years, moved into Corrections for two, and joined Placer County Probation nearly 10 years ago—bringing calm, communication skills, and field expertise to every role. On his promotion, Fred shared: “I wanted new challenges and to be an asset to the department and my fellow officers. I hope to support our team, advance our goals, and continue building on the positive work we’re doing in the community.” Fred’s bucket list includes through-hiking the Pacific Crest Trail. At home, he lives with Clover, his toy poodle affectionately dubbed an “old grey granny dog” by the women in his household. With nearly a decade of probation experience, strong leadership, and a drive to grow, Fred brings skill, heart, and humor to his new role. We’re excited to see what he’ll accomplish—both on the job and out on the trail.

  • Meet Senior Officer Alyssa McCrary Anchored in Service, Ready to Lead Please join us in congratulating newly promoted Senior Officer Alyssa McCrary! Alyssa graduated from Oakmont High and attended Sacramento State before joining what she proudly calls “the greatest branch of the Armed Forces”—the United States Navy. Her service included tugboat operations, communications at Pearl Harbor, recruiting in Tennessee, and ship security during Operation Iraqi Freedom and Enduring Freedom. She joined Placer County Probation in 2013 and has spent the last 4.5 years in the Juvenile Division and more recently assigned to the ACTion Team within the Adult Division . Alyssa pursued promotion to support her team, grow professionally, and help shape the future of our programs. Off duty, she’s remodeling her home into a personal retreat—with plans to travel the 50 states and Europe once it’s done. She has a cat named Bubbie and rescue pup named Ruthie (aka Ruth Ann when she’s in trouble). We’re excited to see the impact Alyssa will continue to make in her new role!
