About us
Rigetti Computing is building the world’s most powerful computers to help solve humanity’s most pressing and important problems. These systems will perform computations that today’s fastest supercomputers are incapable of — unlocking entirely new classes of problems and offering a direct path to solutions. We believe quantum computing is going to significantly affect health care, how we treat disease, how we generate energy, and how we feed humanity. Our superconducting quantum computing systems are available over the cloud via Rigetti Quantum Cloud Services. We were founded in 2013 by Chad Rigetti. We are located in Berkeley and Fremont, California, and have employees based all over the world.

🔈 Yesterday we shared the exciting news that Rigetti, in collaboration with QphoX, was awarded a three-year, $5.8M contract with the Air Force Research Laboratory to advance quantum networking technology. As reported by Barron's, this project aims to deliver systems providing entanglement between superconducting qubits and optical photons, the essential building block of quantum networking. 📰 From the article: “We’re talking about the ability to transfer information from one computer to another in the quantum state. It’s a necessary component, long-term, to making sure quantum computers get integrated into the fabric of data centers.” — Dr. Subodh Kulkarni, Rigetti CEO Full article: https://lnkd.in/ePXF8b2B

Very excited to be deploying qubits + quantum transducers jointly with Rigetti Computing at the Air Force Research Laboratory facility... 🚀
Exciting news from QphoX! We’re proud to announce that QphoX and Rigetti Computing have been awarded a $5.8M, three-year contract from the Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL) to advance superconducting quantum networking. This collaboration will combine Rigetti’s expertise in superconducting qubits with QphoX’s cutting-edge microwave-to-optical transduction technology. Together, we aim to enable long-range, room-temperature quantum state transfer and pave the way for distributed quantum computing and a secure quantum internet. This project marks a critical step toward scaling quantum systems and building the infrastructure for the quantum networks of the future. 🚀 We’re proud to announce that, in collaboration with our partners at QphoX, Rigetti has been awarded a three-year, $5.8M contract from the Air Force Research Laboratory to advance superconducting quantum networking. 🔑 This project will address one of the key technical barriers in networking superconducting quantum computers: converting microwave signals used to control superconducting qubits into optical photons so quantum systems can communicate securely over fiber-optic networks. 🌐 This is an exciting step forward for quantum networking R&D—and for U.S. leadership in quantum technology. Rigetti had the pleasure of participating at this year’s SQA Conference in Delft, where leaders across the superconducting quantum computing industry joined to share the latest progress and innovation to advance the field. Andrew Bestwick, Rigetti’s SVP, Quantum Systems, gave an insightful talk on our approach to hardware scalability where he discussed the benefits of our chiplet-based architecture and what it takes to build even larger quantum processors. This is a fantastic example of how researchers are leveraging current quantum computing systems to explore and advance hybrid quantum algorithms. We’re delighted to see how Strangeworks leveraged our 84-qubit Ankaa-3 system via Amazon Web Services (AWS) Braket to demonstrate their new quantum optimization algorithm to address Airbus’ aircraft cargo loading problem. Check out their blog post to learn more! 👇
✈️ 📦 Great new blog from our partners at Strangeworks putting a series of tailored optimization algos through their paces on a real-world challenge: optimizing how cargo is loaded onto aircraft. They tested several Quantum Approximate Optimization Algorithm (QAOA) variants using Rigetti Computing’s Ankaa‑3 QPU through Amazon Braket on Amazon Web Services (AWS). Stuart Flannigan and Andrew J. Ochoa, Ph.D., M.B.A. found performance differences weren’t just about qubit count, they also depended heavily on problem encoding and parameterization, underscoring the importance of doing systematic testing on hardware. The work was grounded in an Airbus-supplied aircraft cargo loading problem from last year’s Quantum Mobility Challenge - great to see this challenge still delivering results 👋 Thierry Pellegrino Justin Brindley-Koonce William Hurley Subodh Kulkarni David Rivas Rebecca Malamud Marco Paini Ian Colle Marna K.
