About us
Vivace Youth Chorus of San Jose's mission is to empower young singers to discover their spirit of creativity, compassion, and collaboration through the beauty of song. Vivace Youth Chorus is an engaging, inclusive, high-quality music education program welcoming all voices, ages 6-18 in the Silicon Valley. Instruction begins with singing, movement, and games, followed up with reading music, writing, and theory. This approach allows students to naturally progress from our introductory Training Choirs to our more advanced Performing Ensembles. Rooted in the Kodály methodology, our program fosters creative development, encourages collaboration with peers, and instills a life-long love of music and the arts. Vivace Youth Chorus is based in Willow Glen, San Jose. Established in 2003, Vivace serves youth throughout the South Bay regardless of economic, cultural, educational, and other backgrounds. Centrally located in Willow Glen, Vivace provides easily accessible services to youth from multiple communities in the county, including San Jose, Morgan Hill, Santa Clara, Mountain View, and Saratoga, among others. Our East San Jose program includes satellite choirs at Foothill Presbyterian Church and significant financial aid to youth from under-served areas, which enables participation in any of Vivace’s programs. This program supports our vision to deliver arts education to Santa Clara County’s under-served communities, helping to bridge the gap caused by limited school and household budgets.

Vivace Youth Chorus of San José is hiring for an Associate Conductor for our Andante and Adagio ensembles. Andante is a treble voice ensemble of singers in 5th-9th grades, and Adagio is a treble voice ensemble of singers in 3rd-5th grades. Areas of responsibility include repertoire selection, rehearsal planning and directing, singer assessments, communications, and regular collaboration with the executive artistic director and other staff on concert planning, recruitment, and singer enrichment activities.
