Position Overview
The Controller will oversee all accounting and finance for a rapidly growing apparel brand in the Philly area. This is an incredible opportunity to join an excellent company at a critical stage on their continued growth curve. This accounting and finance leadership role will provide accurate financial reporting, manage close, and lead budgeting and forecasting to provide strategic insights and actionable advice to executives and ownership. The ideal candidate is comfortable working autonomously and collaborating with fellow department heads.
Key Responsibilities
Oversee the daily operations of the accounting department, including accounts payable/receivable, general ledger, and bank reconciliations.
Manage the month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring timely and accurate financial statements.
Prepare and analyze financial reports, budgets, and forecasts; provide actionable insights to senior management.
Experience working with cost of goods sold and operational finance.
Support the company’s growth by implementing scalable accounting processes and controls.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including operations, merchandising, and external partners.
Assist with cash flow management, inventory accounting, and cost analysis, especially as related to retail and activities.
Coordinate with external auditors, tax advisors, and other financial consultants as needed.
Supervise and mentor junior accounting staff, with the opportunity to build and lead a growing team.
Ensure compliance with GAAP and all relevant local, state, and federal regulations.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA or CMA preferred.
7+ years of progressive accounting experience, ideally in retail, consumer goods, or eCommerce.
Proven ability to work independently and collaboratively, with strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Experience with financial planning, budgeting, and forecasting.
Strong communication skills and ability to work with ambiguity and changing priorities.
Proficiency with accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
Demonstrated ability to support business growth and process improvement initiatives.
