Here’s what makes this chip so powerful for EV & ESS applications: ✅ Cell Voltage Monitoring & Balancing Continuously measures individual cell voltages (V0–V13 in this case). Provides cell balancing switches to equalize SoC, extending overall pack life. ✅ Current & Short-Circuit Detection Integrated current monitor and short detector ensure real-time protection. Prevents overcurrent damage and ensures safe pack operation. ✅ Charger Logic & FET Driver Detects charger connections and controls charge/discharge MOSFETs. 200V MOSFETs Deliver Optimal Balance of Performance & Cost-Effectiveness iDEAL Semiconductor Devices Inc. has just confirmed that the initial variant from its 200V-rated family of high-performance silicon MOSFETs - which each leverage the company’s proprietary SuperQ technology - is now in volume production. A further 4 variants are already sampling. Via SuperQ, it has been possible to overcome the operational limitations that are normally associated with silicon-based power switching devices. Major improvements are derived in terms of performance and efficiency, while still retaining the various advantageous that normally relate to silicon too - such as high-volume manufacturability, attractive price points, ruggedness, proven reliability at 175°C temperatures, etc. The 1st 200V-rated SuperQ MOSFET to be going into volume production is the iS20M028S1P. This has a 25mOhm on-state resistance (RDSon) and is supplied in a TO-220 package format. Among the MOSFETs now sampling are TOLL and D²PAK-7L packaged variants that have a 5.5mOhm maximum RDSon - making their figures significantly lower than those from rival vendors' devices.
