Marine plastic pollution is often seen as a “beach” problem. But it’s a governance problem too. The impacts go beyond the ocean: plastics break down into microplastics that enter seafood, affecting our health. Floating trash blocks coastal livelihoods, reduces tourism potential, and clogs fishing routes. As an organization working closely with communities, Anambas Foundation combines cleanup efforts, waste management education, and local regulation advocacy. 💡 Real change needs leadership – in public policy, in CSR programs, in how we manage waste at all levels. Let’s move from reactive cleanups to proactive systems. #yayasananambas #anambasfoundation #abovebelowbeyond #marineconservation #wastemanagement #waste #plasticpollution

🌍 #GeoFact: Every year, more than 8 million tons of plastic waste enter our oceans, endangering marine life, polluting coastlines, and disrupting ecosystems. At Geoseas, we are committed to turning the tide against plastic pollution with proven marine protection solutions: ✅ Geoboom Silt Curtains – contain suspended waste & sediments during construction and dredging, limiting plastic spread. ✅ Geoboom Oil Spill Booms & Response Systems – support surface water cleanup of plastic-polluted areas. ✅ Geocontainers Geotubes & Geobags – stabilize shorelines and reduce plastic buildup on eroding beaches. Together, these solutions create cleaner, safer waterways and protect fragile ecosystems from the growing threat of plastic pollution. 🌊💙 #GeoFact #MarineProtection #PlasticPollution #Sustainability #OceanConservation #Geoseas #SustainingDeasEverywhere

🌊 From Filthy to Fabulous: How Switzerland Turned Its Rivers Crystal Clear! 🇨🇭 Did you know that just 60 years ago, Swiss rivers were heavily polluted—with algae blooms, foam, and dead fish? Today, these waters are so clean that people swim to work in cities like Bern and Basel! How? A strong government mandate in 1971 made wastewater treatment compulsory, connecting 98% of the population to advanced sewage plants. They didn’t stop there—Switzerland leads the world in removing harmful micropollutants (like drug residues) from water, with hundreds of upgraded treatment facilities on the way. Tough laws, big investments, and community pressure created this “blue gold” legacy. 🌍 Global Inspiration: From Thailand’s Chao Phraya to Kenya’s Athi River, innovative cleanup initiatives combine technology, community action, and education to battle plastic and chemical pollution in rivers worldwide. 💡 What can we do? Advocate for strict wastewater treatment laws and funding Invest in advanced filtration technologies to remove micro-contaminants Mobilize community cleanups and plastic waste reduction campaigns Educate all generations on protecting waterways daily At Sustainarit, we believe clean rivers aren’t a luxury—they’re a necessity for public health, biodiversity, and climate resilience. Let’s learn from these successes and work together to restore our waterways. #CleanRivers #WaterIsLife #Sustainability #RiverRestoration #EcoInnovation #GreenFuture #PlasticFreeWater #WaterConservation #Sustainarit

🌍 Tackling Food Waste for a Sustainable Future 🌱 Did you know that when food waste ends up in landfills, it decomposes and produces methane, a potent greenhouse gas? This not only contributes to climate change but also wastes the precious resources used to produce that food, such as water, land, and energy. The environmental impact is significant, and we must also consider the issues of malnutrition and famine. One effective solution to combat food waste is composting. By composting, we can restore soil fertility and create a more sustainable future. Let's work together to reduce food waste and make a positive impact on our planet! #Sustainability #FoodWaste #Composting #ClimateAction #EnvironmentalProtection

According to a study published this year, microplastics were found to impair plants’ photosynthetic capacities and, thereby, their ability to grow and capture carbon. These microplastics, which originate from larger plastic pollutants, are so small that they can enter plant cells and interfere with cellular processes that convert sunlight, water, and carbon dioxide into energy for plant growth and health. With this disruption comes serious threats to agriculture, food security, and climate resilience. In fact, the same study found that microplastics could create up to a 13.5% loss in staple crops and up to 7% loss in seafood. That’s why our fight against plastic pollution is now more urgent than ever. At Pass NetZero, our initiatives tackle plastic pollution head-on by creating sustainable alternatives, like bio-plastic, as well as ways to remove plastic pollution via methods like bioremediation. Read more about the study at https://lnkd.in/g_pPjFq4 and check out our website, www.passnetzero.org, to learn more about our initiatives and how we’re working to #beatplasticpollution in southern Africa and beyond. #plasticpollution #microplastics #agriculture #foodsecurity #climatechange #climateresilience #sustainability

Why a Small Composter Packs a Big Environmental Punch Every 1 kg of food waste sent to landfill releases 2.5x its weight in CO₂ equivalent greenhouse gases. >Now imagine: A small Organic Waste Composter processing 100 kg/day = 36,500 kg/year That’s over 90 tonnes of CO₂ equivalent avoided annually – from one unit. YIMBY’s decentralised composting solutions: ->Eliminate transport emissions. ->Stop methane & leachate pollution. ->Create nutrient-rich compost onsite. ->Lower disposal costs & earn green credits. Result: Cleaner air, healthier soil, and climate-smart communities. And when we multiply that impact across 100+ clients—it’s game-changing for our cities. #ClimateImpact #Sustainability #Composting #ZeroWaste #YIMBYImpact #EcoSmartSolutions #GoGreen #EnvironmentalImpact #EcoSmartSolutions #WasteManagementInnovation #DecentralisedWasteManagement #ClimateAction #CircularEconomy #YesInMyBackyard #CommunityLedChange #NetZero #WasteToValue #YIMBY

Don’t litter, do better | Protect our rivers Rivers carry a large share of our plastic leakage. South Africa releases an estimated 79,000 tonnes of plastic into rivers and the ocean each year, and studies are detecting microplastics in Gauteng surface and drinking water. Source control and behaviour change matter. Litter and wastewater are choking South Africa’s rivers. The Hennops River is a visible warning, with recurring algal blooms and pollution that threaten public health and ecosystems. Community groups like Hennops Revival have removed millions of kilograms of waste, and Gauteng metros have committed to joint action, but prevention is the real fix.
