How AU Vodka became the best selling premium vodka brand in the UK. I'm Jackson and this is my business partner Charlie. In 2015, at the age of 19 and 21, we took a huge risk to make a vodka company that was different to anything we'd seen on the shelf before. We made a small initial run of 1000 bottles. Then the first year, although he had no experience, we had some small wins like getting stocked in bars in our hometown Swansea and even Selfridges. But despite their best efforts, not much happened. In 2017, we reached out to Charlie. Boss asking if we could send him a bottle to try. We met the next day in a Cafe Nero next to the BBC building and after an hour of chatting, Sloth agreed to come on board. In 2019, after years of sampling, we released our first flavoured vodka, Black Grits. Lost Contact book helped us to work with some of the biggest names in the music industry. AU really started to take off. All of a sudden we were receiving more orders than we could keep up with and with a team of only 12 people we made over 700,000 lbs. I remember sitting in McDonald's that year. We wrote a crazy ambitious sales target on a napkin. And if things continued as they were, we could potentially hit ��3,000,000 in sales the next year. Then COVID hit. Orders came to a halt and we thought our business was over. But instead our business skyrocketed. It became the must have drink on social media, we made new exciting flavours and released creative campaign videos that no other brand was doing. Orders went crazy and we were pulling all nighters to get them out on time. All the graph really paid off. In 2020 we sold over 2 million balls and we achieved a staggering ��38.4 million in sales. Just over 5000% growth year on year. We're now eight years into our journey with just over 100 employees. With the fastest growing company in the UK, AU is available in over 50 countries across the globe. We've had the opportunity to work with some incredible people over the years and we've sold over 10 million bottles to date, but we've still got a long, long road ahead.
