FROM THE PROGRAM “THEORY? SEMINAR ON THEORIES OF ARCHITECTURE AND URBANISM” Bengal Institute recently concluded the special seminar on the theories of architecture and urbanism with the esteemed scholar and architect Professor Kazi Khaleed Ashraf leading it. The seminar probed the intertwined relationship among design, history and theory, and how each forms and informs the other. On the first day of the seminar, he engaged with the participants by exploring themes that appear to be foundational to architectural education, practice and thinking today. Spanning two weeks of exploration, Prof. Ashraf guided participants through the conceptual terrain of architecture — what he describes as the “topographies of contemporary architecture.” Here is a short video clip from the first day of the seminar. More to come.

CODEPENDENCE ~Aiming Harmony Rural is backward? No. Urban is exploitative? No. The lack of harmony within the two creates disparity? Yes. The idea of "empowering rural" & "developing urban" is not stating one realm is superior to other but to facilitate a bridge, an exchange of cultural wisdom & technological advancement.
