Ages. Look at this building, I mean it's old, it's very old and it's still perfect. I mean it's beautiful and imperfect shapes, quality and building makes a sustainable building because it's a long term planning. You invest in materials which will pay out after 20 years they are still there and maybe you need a little paint and that's it. Or like this 120 fifty years, then it's for free. Kind of. I like this logic because today we need to reduce our waste and we need to change our perspective on how we treat things and how we handle things. Ein Sophia Slingaland I am German Architect. In in Germany, as I arrived in China, I arrived with my own architecture practice coming from Switzerland, from Geneva, where I already had a lot of experience in the low carbon and green architectures. People told me like hey Sophia, you should go to China because there is a big market and they are more and more becoming ready for your ideas. And this made me open 2. 1017 my architectural practice in Shanghai. The first project I participated was a school project in Jingan and then afterwards other project followed. I was very proud of myself as I arrived in 2019. I did my very ever first factory project of my life and it was a passive house project. So no air con, no heating, just a beautiful factory building and also office building and both in passive house standards, so the workers have a much better interior climate and because no. Extra energy needed to to have the nice good environment and passive house standard means like 90% less energy demand to heat and cool over the years. So it's a lot of money and all of this. I mean, it's not only these two. Then there is water. So it's meaningful and it's a new invention. By the way, it's a Chinese patent. I wanted to start here. This is the former toilet version where it's normally should be attached to a vacuum exhaust because there is no drawer but the toilet opens. Then you do whatever you use the normal toilet and then the this bamboo bag then is after you finished you close the lid and then the process. Parts that it's grabs the bag, pulls down, seals and then you have every user in a small bag and this bag then is processed in an accelerated composting inside the toilet or inside the container to be then processed in 18 to 20 hours and then afterwards it's done. So no sewage, no water. And generating fertilizer. Water is our life. Without water we die. And so we need everything, all these little elements we need to tackle in order to to make a better world. And I see that in China, actually it's it started I also three years ago, four years ago, we started with the Wis, which is a world in sustainability. It's a forum, it's a regularly event where we invite like minded people, but also. Experts to share, to get together with government to discuss, to see what do we need to do and that people connect and know each other.

JKMM Architects’ winning design for Helsinki’s new Museum of Architecture and Design, titled “Kumma,” is a landmark waterfront project selected from 624 global entries for its sculptural use of recycled brick, sustainable low-lying form, and strong civic presence in the city’s South Harbour. Scheduled to open in 2030, the 10,050-square-meter museum will unite Finland’s major design institutions, housing a collection of over 900,000 artifacts with a guiding principle of ecological and cultural sustainability.
