Windows Backup App Gains Intune Support as Windows 10 Nears End Microsoft is preparing to make its Windows Backup app for organizations generally available in Intune next month. The feature, currently in preview, will allow IT admins to manage backup and restore of user settings during the Windows setup process, especially useful for companies moving from Windows 10 to 11. The app first appeared in the August 2025 C-release update, with broader rollout through the September Patch. It requires devices to be Microsoft Entra joined, on Windows 10 22H2 or Windows 11 22H2 and later, and patched with the August 2025 update or newer. Backup policies must be enabled through MDM or Group Policy. Restores are limited to Windows 11 systems on supported builds, also with the August 2025 update installed before setup. The update is listed under ID 501437 on Microsoft’s M365 roadmap. #Windows11 #Windows10 #MicrosoftIntune #WindowsBackup #MDM #ITAdmins #SysAdminTools #Microsoft365 #WindowsUpdate #TechNews #Windowslatest

Windows 11 Adds OOBE Update Option for Enterprises Microsoft is giving enterprise IT admins more control over Windows 11 setup. Starting with version 22H2, devices that meet certain conditions can install quality updates during the out-of-box experience (OOBE). These updates focus on stability and bug fixes. To enable the feature, devices must be Entra-joined or hybrid-joined, managed with Intune, and use a Windows Autopilot Enrollment Status Page profile. The option is toggled in Intune under Enrollment Status Page settings. By default, new profiles allow updates, while existing ones do not. The benefit is simple: users log in for the first time on a freshly updated machine. Microsoft says other MDM tools with ESP profiles may also support the feature. #Microsoft #Windows #Windows11 #Windows10 #Windowslatest #update #oobe

Starting September 1st, 2025, OE Classic will no longer support Windows 2000. This decision comes 25 years after the release of Windows 2000 and 15 years after Microsoft officially discontinued it. This change has been a long time coming and should not be surprising. The compatibility layer that allowed OE Classic to run on Windows 2000 will no longer be maintained, allowing us to focus on more relevant features. Usage statistics show that only a handful of users are still on Windows 2000 (possibly even bots), and we have received very few support inquiries about it. In fact, the compatibility layer has been broken for several versions without most users noticing it. For this reason, we believe it's the right time to officially end support. Support for Windows XP (including XP 64-bit) and all newer versions of Windows will continue. Today, the vast majority of our users are on Windows 10 and Windows 11, so most would not even notice this change. Read more on https://www.oeclassic.com/

Microsoft has begun testing Windows 11 version 25H2 (the 2025 update) through the Release Preview channel. This update doesn't introduce major new features but enables improvements already delivered gradually throughout the year. Notable changes include the removal of legacy tools like PowerShell 2.0 and WMIC, enhanced controls for IT admins to uninstall pre-installed apps, and a faster update process thanks to the enablement package model—which allows upgrading from 24H2 with just a single restart. IT pros and eager users can grab Build 26200.5074 via Windows Update in the Release Preview channel.Supporting transparency, real-time telemetry for performance issues (sent only with user feedback) is helping fine-tune public builds ahead of the broader fall rollout. #Windows11 #25H2 #EnablementUpdate

Exciting news for Windows users! Windows 11 25H2 is on the horizon, set to launch in October. This latest update brings a more streamlined process compared to its predecessor, 24H2. Instead of a lengthy upgrade akin to a new OS installation, 25H2 introduces an innovative "enabler" system. Microsoft has been quietly enhancing the user experience by integrating new features into monthly updates without activating them. With the deployment of the 25H2 enabler in October, users can anticipate a swift update of under 1 MB, resembling a typical software update. Among the notable changes are refinements to the Start menu and the migration of additional Control Panel items to Settings. This shift towards a unified settings experience prompts the question: when will this transition reach its culmination? Stay tuned for more updates as Windows continues its evolution.
