Is Microsoft Copilot’s agents the same as OpenAI’s Custom GPTs? On the surface, yes. But the differences matter for businesses. Both approaches create specialized AI assistants: ☑️Built on large language models. ☑️Tailored with instructions and knowledge. ☑️Able to extend into tools and workflows. But here’s where they split: ✅ Copilot agents • Deeply integrated into Microsoft 365. • Instant access to your docs, emails, and meetings. • Strong on enterprise compliance and security. ⚠️ Cons • Locked inside Microsoft’s ecosystem. • Limited flexibility for custom integrations. ✅ Custom GPTs • Flexible to design unique assistants. • Easy to plug in APIs, external knowledge, or niche workflows. • Deployable beyond one platform. ⚠️ Cons • Less native integration with enterprise suites. • Requires setup and management. The similarity is uncanny. Both move us toward AI agents that act like digital colleagues. The choice depends on where you want control. If your company runs fully on Microsoft, Copilot agents fit seamlessly. If you want flexibility to build industry-specific or customer-facing AI, Custom GPTs win. What would you choose for your business: integration convenience or customization freedom? 💡 Something that caught my attention today: Microsoft’s Copilot isn’t quite hitting the ROI sweet spot just yet. Despite all the buzz, businesses are still figuring out if the AI-powered code assistant truly speeds up dev workflows enough to justify the cost. Here’s the tech scoop — Copilot leverages OpenAI’s Codex model to suggest code snippets and automate boilerplate, aiming to boost developer productivity. But the challenge is integrating these suggestions smoothly into complex projects without causing more debugging time or workflow disruption. It’s a classic case of powerful AI meets real-world dev messiness. For enterprises, this means AI tools like Copilot have to prove they reduce friction and actually save hours, not just generate neat code snippets. Microsoft’s got the tech muscle, but the practical adoption curve is still steep. Curious how teams are balancing AI assistance with quality control in your experience? 🔗 https://lnkd.in/dnTsspAW Read full details #Microsoft #Copilot #DeveloperTools #AIProductivity #EnterpriseAI

Microsoft is expanding AI in Office 365 by combining OpenAI and Anthropic’s Claude models via AWS. The goal? Smarter Excel automation and polished PowerPoint creation. This move shows the value of not relying on a single AI provider. Different models bring different strengths, and combining them can boost productivity and creativity. In my view, this isn’t just about AI hype — it’s about building practical, flexible tools that solve real business problems. 💡 What do you think: Will multi-provider AI become the norm in enterprise software? #AI #Microsoft #AWS https://lnkd.in/eBpY9utH

💥Copilot Message Center items have more than doubled in just 12 months In the first 8 months of 2025, Microsoft published 168 Copilot Message Center items — compared to just 80 in the same period last year. 📈That’s a 110% increase - More features - More security and compliance impacts - More user enablement and licensing shifts ⚠️For IT teams, that means: - More Message Center items to review - More changes to communicate - More risk if you miss something Most organisations are still figuring out how to manage Copilot adoption — but Microsoft is already shipping the next wave of changes. It's interesting to see the increase from 2024 to 2025 in Copilot items, although not exactly surprising either. What’s more noteworthy, is how 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗖𝗼𝗽𝗶𝗹𝗼𝘁-𝗿𝗲𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗶𝘁𝗲𝗺𝘀 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗴𝗼𝗿𝗶𝘀𝗲𝗱 𝗮𝘀 𝗖𝗼𝗽𝗶𝗹𝗼𝘁 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘀𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗶𝗰𝗲 𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗴𝗼𝗿𝘆, meaning the count of Copilot-related items is actually significantly higher. Just searching for 'Copilot' in the ChangePilot Portal showed me all Copilot-related items, not only those categorised by Microsoft as Copilot, and that produced 𝟯𝟴𝟳 𝗶𝘁𝗲𝗺𝘀 - that's 𝟮𝟬𝟬+ 𝗲𝘅𝘁𝗿𝗮 𝗖𝗼𝗽𝗶𝗹𝗼𝘁-𝗿𝗲𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗶𝘁𝗲𝗺𝘀 for the Copilot service owner to keep track of... #Microsoft365 #Copilot

Darren Lloyd has already reposted adding that there were actually 387 change items either in Copilot or Copilot in a product (i.e. Teams, Outlook etc.). However, we all know that MSFT is focussed on AI so this shouldn't be too much of a surprise. To further keep us on our toes though, is the increasing trend for MSFT to ship updates as "on by default", meaning you have to take action to ensure compliance and maximise the user benefits. Building smarter Copilot Studio Agents 🤖 with Azure AI Search One of the exciting capabilities in Copilot Studio is connecting your agent to enterprise knowledge. To make this work, you’ll set up 3 key resources in Azure: 1️⃣ Azure AI Search – create a resource for your search index + indexer to make content retrievable. 2️⃣ Azure Storage Account – store documents (like the employee handbook) in a blob container so your agent can reference them. 3️⃣ Azure OpenAI – deploy an embeddings model to vectorize content for semantic search. Once these are in place, you can extend your Copilot Studio agent with policy documents, employee handbooks, SharePoint sites, and even Dataverse records—so users get customized, context-aware answers every time. Key result: A Copilot agent that doesn’t just “chat”—it truly understands your organization’s knowledge base and delivers secure, relevant responses to your employees. #CopilotStudio #AzureAISearch #AzureOpenAI #AI #GenerativeAI #Productivity
