“Who is responsible for what now?” you ask… (Watch this space and try to answer!) NAXSA’s Engineering Committee says… Shoring projects are often complicated, and, with many different teams involved, require an incredible amount of attention to detail and coordination to ensure they run smoothly. Unfortunately, a frequent challenge is ensuring each team member understands and follows through on his or her individual responsibilities. “Wait I thought you had that covered!” you say… A site-specific shoring plan, or even stamped tab data, should provide enough detail to allow it to be constructed and used in a safe manner. In addition to drawings and details, though, these documents often include a long list of general notes. These notes are as critical as the drawings themselves. Yet they are often overlooked or, even worse, ignored. All parties involved must carefully read the notes to ensure they not only understand them, but agree who is taking the lead on each. Implementing programs that ensure these steps are taken on every project is a great way to make sure things don’t slip through the cracks. Never hesitate to reach out to the engineer if you are ever confused by a note. We are always happy to help! Watch this space for future posts with common examples of notes – and try to guess who is responsible before reading each answer! Falls to a lower level account for nearly 40% of all construction related deaths. Many of these involve situations where workers are not tied off to an anchor point, or the anchor point failed due to improper installation. The most common theme I hear from our builders is that they can focus on what they do best..... building, and building with confidence knowing the proper fall protection is in place.
Onsite Safety offers high-quality anchor points, designed to meet the needs of multiple trades. Whether permanent or temporary, we review your blueprints to ensure optimal placement and secure attachment points for every project. #SafetyFirst #AnchorPoints #ConstructionSafety #WorkplaceSafety #OnsiteSafety #SafetySolutions

🏗️ “Quality is not an act, it’s a habit.” In construction and surveying, one small error can create a lifetime impact. That’s why precision, consistency, and commitment to quality are non-negotiable. ✔️ Every measurement matters ✔️ Every survey point matters ✔️ Every detail builds trust 👉 Quality is not just about standards — it’s about responsibility to clients and future generations. #Construction #Engineering #Survey #QualityMatters #Trust

Corridor dead ends might look harmless on paper, but they can become serious safety and compliance issues once construction starts. They can limit escape routes, confuse egress paths and fail to meet code length limits, which means an inspector can stop the project in its tracks. Catching these early in the design phase not only avoids costly rework but also keeps your building safe and approval-ready. #LinkWaveAI #BuildingCodeCompliance #ConstructionInsights #PlanReview #AvoidRework #AIinConstruction #BuildSmarter

Hello Everyone, In my previous posts, I shared thoughts on Structural Audits and Retrofitting. Today, I want to highlight why these two go hand in hand. Think of it like health care: 🔎 Audit = Diagnosis (finding the problem) 🛠️ Retrofitting = Treatment (solving the problem) One without the other is incomplete. Skipping an audit means guessing, while ignoring retrofitting after an audit means neglecting the solution. Together, they ensure: ✔️ Safety of occupants ✔️ Cost-effectiveness in repairs ✔️ Extended life of the structure ✔️ Sustainable use of resources In our profession, prevention is always better than cure, and combining audits with retrofitting is the most effective way to safeguard our built environment. 👉 Do you agree that regular audits followed by corrective retrofitting should become a standard practice for all old buildings? #StructuralAudit #Retrofitting #BuildingSafety #CivilEngineering #Sustainability TECHPRO ENGINEERS PVT. WHEN THE CLIENT ASKS: "CAN WE JOIN YOUR WEEKLY LOOK-AHEAD?" The contractor's first thought: "Here we go... they think we're lying about dates" What they're actually thinking: - More oversight meetings - Someone looking to trip us up - Checking our schedule against theirs - Finding gaps to blame us for delays But here's the flip... Best contractors use this as their secret weapon: "We need your approval on the piling design by Friday" "Utilities clearance is blocking Zone 3 - can you chase?" "Planning consent expires next month - what's the status?" "Your structural engineer hasn't responded in 2 weeks" Suddenly the look-ahead becomes client management gold. Instead of defending your timelines, you're managing theirs. The smart money sees client attendance as the ultimate accountability tool.

Friday project spotlight- reactive emergency support 📯 When Network Rail identified a high-level boundary wall at an operational station car park as unsafe due to vegetation growth weakening the structure, quick action was essential. Working alongside Amco for Network Rail, QED Scaffolding was tasked with designing and installing a reactive support and access scaffold. The wall, overhanging an occupied office courtyard, required a solution that delivered both safety and access, without disrupting station operations. 🏗️ Our team, supported by RDG Engineering’s specialist design, installed a cantilevered drop scaffold using a modular system to serve a dual purpose: ✔️ Securely support the unstable wall ✔️ Provide safe access for remedial works To meet the urgency, our crews worked back-to-back shifts, day and night, ensuring that the scaffold was promptly in place and fully compliant. These pics show the precision, planning, and teamwork that went into delivering this challenging project safely and efficiently. #QEDscaffolding #reactiverepairs #emergencyworks #scaffoldingsafety

Pricing an outcome without first agreeing on method is how variation creeps in. The method is the control system for the claim. It defines causation boundaries, safe work sequence, temporary works and access, and how reinstatement will meet the NCC and relevant Australian Standards. When every tenderer prices the same method, you get like-for-like comparisons, fewer disputes at delivery, and a scope that reads the same way the site will be built. If you are tightening your instruction pack, use a method statement as the backbone and make assumptions and exclusions explicit up front.
