Implementation science could help close gaps in care for young children with ADHD by expanding access to behavioral therapies before medication is considered. Stronger implementation efforts would give evidence-based treatments a better chance of reaching children and families who need them most, reducing the risk that medication becomes the default path.

How does ADHD impact children's long-term health and wellbeing? New research. led by Senior Research Fellow Ha Le from Deakin Health Economics in the Institute for Health Transformation, drew on 13 years of longitudinal data to understand the Health-Related Quality of Life (HRQoL) of children with ADHD clinical symptoms. The findings highlight the long-term impacts of ADHD on health and wellbeing, and the importance of holistic support strategies that address a child’s psychosocial and learning needs, as well as their family environment.
