A 105- Books on Power Transformers–Part 1- Published in the 19th Century
In 2021, I published four articles (A28-A31) in this newsletter listing reference books for transformer engineers. These were the books covering unique aspects of transformers (e.g. Accessories, History, Short circuit forces and strength, Transient phenomena, Testing etc)
Since the first book on transformers in English was published in 1989, more than a hundred volumes have been published on transformer engineering. I first found a bibliography of transformer books on the IEEE website in 2011 (Rev16- a list of 64 books). https://www.transformerscommittee.org/information/
Peter M Balma prepared this list, and the latest edition is Rev 22 (2020), covering 78 titles of transformer books. https://grouper.ieee.org/groups/transformers/info/Bibliographybooks.pdf
Another great bibliography at the above site is a 220-page bibliography from Linden W. Pierce (2017) on Transformer heat transfer and loading (1895-2016) https://grouper.ieee.org/groups/transformers/info/2017-Bibliography-TransfHeatTransfer&Loading-Pierce.pdf
My compilation of transformer books is different from the above. I have included only books exclusively dealing with transformer engineering, not on accessories, materials, or other aspects of transformers. I have also included some very famous titles from other languages.

4moDear Dr. Ramachandran, I admire the immense effort involved in creating and distributing a comprehensive collection of 105 Transformer books worldwide. It’s truly a remarkable undertaking. As a Mechanical Engineer, I find great value in the Transformer Academy magazines and training materials. I also appreciate the presentations by various Indian authors that I look forward to exploring. One book I frequently reference is the one published by Dr. Narasimhan. It serves as an excellent resource for both seasoned engineers and those without an electrical background, making complex concepts accessible. Your series of books and presentations is a significant contribution to the engineering community, enhancing our ability to serve humanity. I wish you and your family abundant blessings from the Almighty. Thank you. Best regards, Thanaraj

4moSo if you could pick 3-5 books, not necessarily from that century, for engineers to learn more about transformers as they pertain to today, what would you recommend?
