🔋 20% energy savings from Tarshid and Irada hospital initiative

ترشيد | TARSHID and Irada have introduced an initiative to optimize energy use and lower electricity consumption in Al-Qurayyat.

The project focuses on 19 buildings within the Irada mental health hospital, with Tarshid estimating a 20% reduction in electricity usage, from 4.5M to 3.7M kilowatt-hours.

The effort is set to save 1.5K+ barrels of oil and cut 500 metric tons of carbon emissions—equal to planting over 9K trees per year.

🇸🇦🇮🇹 Saudi Arabia and Italy sign energy cooperation agreement

The Saudi Arabian and Italian energy ministers signed an agreement to boost energy cooperation.

The MoU covers renewables, green hydrogen, and climate change mitigation solutions, among other items.

Saudi Arabia continues to advance its clean power credentials, with the world’s largest green hydrogen plant under development in NEOM. As part of the #SaudiGreenInitiative, the Kingdom aims to reduce emissions by 278 mtpa by 2030.

🇹🇭 Thai Embassy joins Riyadh greening initiative

The Royal Thai Embassy in Riyadh participated in a volunteer initiative at Aba Samri National Park to support greening efforts in collaboration with the National Center for Vegetation Cover Development & Combating Desertification (المركز الوطني لتنمية الغطاء النباتي ومكافحة التصحر).

The National Greening Season, launched in October 2024, seeks to promote environmental sustainability by increasing plant biodiversity and rehabilitating degraded lands through tree planting across Saudi Arabia.

🌱 Madinah Governor inaugurates oud, sandalwood tree planting project

The governor of Madinah, Prince Salman bin Abdulaziz, has launched a project to plant oud and sandalwood trees across the region.

The initiative aims to cultivate the valuable tree species to boost the local economy while promoting ecological diversity.

As part of the Saudi Green Initiative, Saudi Arabia aims to expand its vegetation cover and combat desertification by growing 10B trees.

🐾 Saudi reserve welcomes endangered species back to nature

In collaboration with the National Center for Wildlife المركز الوطني لتنمية الحياة الفطرية, the Imam Turki Bin Abdullah Royal Nature Reserve Development Authority released 95 animals into their natural habitats.

The 30 Arabian oryx, 10 Arabian gazelles, 50 sand gazelles and five red-necked ostriches will strengthen wild populations, restoring ecological balance and enriching biodiversity.

🦎 Study reveals new reptile species in King Abdulaziz Reserve

A recent study has revealed a comprehensive inventory of reptile species at the King Abdulaziz Royal Reserve Development Authority.

Across 1.5K+ field observations, researchers recorded 25 lizards and six snakes, demonstrating a rich biodiversity within the reserve. As part of the Saudi Green Initiative, Saudi Arabia aims to protect 30% of land and sea by 2030.
