Here's the latest from the UN

Peacekeeping is an integral part of the United Nations’ work around the world, representing a collective investment in global peace, security and stability.

For more than seven decades, UN peacekeepers have made a tangible difference in the lives of hundreds of millions of the world’s most vulnerable people by helping to create conditions for lasting peace. Since 1948, more than two million peacekeepers from 158 countries have served in 71 United Nations Peacekeeping operations.

The Security Council has a vital role in UN Peacekeeping by determining when peacekeepers will be deployed and providing missions with realistic and clear mandates.

United Nations peacekeeping missions consist of military personnel, police officers and civilians, who work in some of the world’s most challenging environments to protect civilians, prevent conflict, reduce violence, strengthen security and empower national authorities to assume these responsibilities.

Their work is guided by three basic principles:

➡️ Consent of the parties;

➡️ Impartiality;

➡️ Non-use of force except in self-defence and defence of the mandate.

Since the first peacekeeping operation was launched in 1948, more than 4,000 UN peacekeepers have lost their lives in the line of duty. Their sacrifice is a testament to their personal commitment to creating a more peaceful world.

United Nations OCHA International Criminal Court - ICC Requires A Nuanced Approach on Gaza Conflict: The recent victory of Donald J. Trump is indeed a significant moment, and many are hopeful that it will bring about a new era of equitable justice. The global youths are eager to see fair justice and sustainable peace in our world. Regarding the Gaza conflict, it's essential to acknowledge the complexity of the issue. A nuanced approach is necessary, one that considers the rights and needs of all parties involved. The African United Nations Youths' proposed solutions to end the conflict are a step in the right direction. It's also crucial to recognize that condemning Israel to exonerate terrorists is not a viable solution, as several world leaders have acknowledged Israel's right to defend itself. Instead, diplomacy and ideal solutions should be explored to prevent the reoccurrence of the Gaza conflict.
