Maybe This Is How Mindsets Change

I’ve been thinking… I don’t think I’m built for fame. 😹

Like… I lowkey want access, not the spotlight. If I had my way, I’d make all my friends blow so I can just plug into their influence when I need it and go back to hiding in peace 😂😂 what about you? Do you think you are built for fame?

Anyway, welcome to another edition of The One Thing Newsletter. Last Monday of the month. Last day of the month. Half of the year, gone just like that. 🥲

Happy New Month in advance. Half of the year don go o. How’s your year going, really?

  • Yoo! don’t even get me started 😹

  • Acing it actually

  • Can we skip to the good part?

  • We go dey alright 😅

As for me? I’m doing okay. Not where I want to be but I’m here and that’s something.

Now let’s get into this week’s one thing.

One Thing I’m Doing

Just showing up before I have time to overthink it.

Over the weekend, I finally got around to do something I’ve been pushing for ages.

I had this IG “Focus Mode” feature in my head — something to help people (like me) stop getting lost in Reels when all we wanted to do was just post something. The idea had been sitting in my notes/figma forever.

Saturday came. I woke up real late, missed an event I really wanted to go for. And somehow, instead of sulking about missing out on the event, I sat up, dragged my laptop open and just started. BTW, I scrolled through IG, replied WhatsApp messages mid-task, danced, stretched, rolled my eyes at my own stubbornness 😭 but I didn’t shut down my laptop or head down to my bed to sleep. I stayed with that task and guess what? I got it done.

If you want to see what I came up with, here is the link to check it out and yess let me know what you think. - Instagram Feature Focus

One Thing I’m Learning

That sometimes, your mind isn’t being mean — it’s just repeating your patterns.

Lately, I’ve noticed that my biggest critic is my own mind — not in a self-hating way tho, but in that “You sure you can do this?” kind of voice lols.

Instead of fighting or denying it, I’m learning to observe the pattern, then change it.

If I always quit when things get hard (which i do often), then my mind will keep suggesting that. If I usually scroll away when I feel stuck, my brain will offer escape not solutions.

But if I show up even when I don’t feel like it and finish something anyway, my brain starts to catch on likeeee: “Ohh… we’re doing this now?”

I feel maybe that’s how mindsets actually change — not just with affirmations but with new patterns implemented.

One Thing I Think You Should Try

Next time your brain says “Let’s rest abeg” but you know you need to do something small — try starting it without the drama.

Don’t wait to feel ready. Don’t build a mood board like me. Don’t open 50 tabs just to get started😅. Justttttt… start. Even if you stop 10 minutes later, you’ve still sent your brain a new signal: We don’t run from small beginnings anymore.

Now Over to You

What’s something you’ve been postponing?

What pattern in your mind are you ready to change?

And what’s one thing you think I should try next or write about?

Reply. Write it down or just reflect on it quietly. Either way, don’t let the month roll over without taking one honest step.

With love and light,
