Meet the DLP Directors - Jon Goodall MA (Cantab) MSc MRTPI

Jon joined DLP in 2019 and is a Director in the Research & Analysis team. Jon is based at DLP Planning’s Bedford office and leads DLP’s work within the Strategic Land sector.

Jon has over 15 years’ professional experience and since joining DLP, Jon has applied his extensive experience to a range of private and public sector clients, contributing to robust evidence bases and providing critical assessments to support successful planning decisions at Examination, application and Appeal stage.

His wider background demonstrates a passion for effective strategic planning, with a proud track record of direct involvement in the preparation of successfully adopted Local Plans. Through the promotion of land within the private sector Jon regularly secures the allocation of sites (including removal of land from the Green Belt) and has directly impacted the direction of multiple emerging Plans in response to clients’ soundness concerns.

Jon specialises in assessments of need and supply of land for housing and economic development alongside a wider portfolio of bespoke socio-economic and demographic analysis, including recently leading preparation of an Economic Development Needs Assessment for South Staffordshire District Council. He has extensive knowledge of site selection, policy development, stakeholder engagement and the preparation of evidence.

He fundamentally believes in the requirement for robust evidence as a fundamental component of the planning system. Jon recognises this is required to provide insight and analysis across an increasing range of relevant socio-economic topics and brings wider value in helping to achieve sustainable development and address issues such as affordable and older persons’ housing needs that transcend the sector itself.
