Read Books
If there’s one thing I can honestly say, it’s that PolyMinds has helped me more than I think it has helped anyone else. It pushed me to start reading again, seriously, this time.
As of last year, the only books I read were schoolbooks, textbooks, and materials tied to my course of study. Outside academics, I wasn’t reading anything else. But once I decided to start writing and sharing my thoughts, I realized something simple but important: if I want to write well about mental health, healing, and life, then I have to read widely.
Not just school texts. Books that stretch the mind, intellectual books, self-help, and guides that make you reflect and try new strategies. Reading, for me, has become a way to digest ideas and put them into practice.
Someone I admire on Instagram reads a lot, and seeing that made it feel possible for me, too. These days, I aim for one book a month. If a book is long — like 600 pages — I take two months sometimes. I’d rather soak it in and apply what I’m learning than rush and forget.
The first thing I picked up on this new journey was an e-book. Maybe that’s why I believe that if you haven’t read in a while, starting with an e-book can be a gentle way back. That’s also why I wrote Finding Me: You Can Start from Here — not as a loud list of “rules,” but as a quiet companion for anyone trying to begin again.
I know we live in a world were scrolling often feels easier than sitting down with a book. But here’s the thing: reading, even just a few pages, has this quiet way of expanding your mind and reminding you of who you’re becoming. It doesn’t have to be overwhelming; it can be a few pages a day, a chapter a week, or revisiting words that once comforted you.
That’s the heart behind Finding Me. It doesn’t shout; it whispers. It reminds you that your journey is enough and that your mess doesn’t disqualify you.
So maybe this week, let’s pick up something, anything that helps us keep growing. And if you’re looking for a place to start, I’d love for you to sit with my words in Finding Me. Who knows? Maybe you’ll find a part of yourself waiting in between the lines.
