Celebrating #WomeninAI!
On Wednesdays, we celebrate #WomeninAI. This week, we're focusing on professor K.P. (Suba) Subbalakshmi from the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Stevens. Subbalakshmi, the founding director of the Stevens Institute for Artificial Intelligence, develops a host of AI-powered technologies, including iterations that predict Alzheimer’s disease, dementia and loneliness with very high accuracy by analyzing people's use of language. Learn more about professor Subbalakshmi and all the wonderful women at Stevens who are making an impact in the AI space 👇 https://lnkd.in/ezc88QD7 Stevens Institute of Technology

Celebrate #WomeninAI throughout October!
As we continue to celebrate #WomeninAI throughout October, meet SHIVANI BHAWSAR. Bhawsar received her M.S. in Applied Artificial Intelligence from the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Stevens in the spring. Shortly after on June 25, she was published in the prestigious MRS Bulletin focused on advanced materials research two years after presenting her work at the Materials Research Society (MRS) fall 2022 meeting in Boston. Working in Eui-Hyeok Yang's lab, Bhawsar developed a "smart microscope" that combines AI, quantum computing, computer science and materials science to quickly analyze a group of materials called transition metal dichalcogenides (TMDs). October is #NationalWomeninAIMonth! Join us this week as we spotlight the contributions of women in AI at Stevens. We kick off with Jennifer Kang-Mieler, PhD, chair of the biomedical engineering department, and her research on retinopathy of prematurity (ROP) — an eye disease affecting premature infants that can lead to vision loss. Kang-Mieler's team is developing an AI solution that identifies ROP in medical imaging to accelerate ROP diagnoses and support vision recovery.
