Setting of Indie Music Videos • Music videos for indie songs are usually set in a low budget area like a city, the studio the song was recorded in or a forest for example • Places like these are cheap and are easily accessible • Settings are usually kept simple to keep the main focus on the artist/band

Narrative of Indie music videos • Music videos for indie artists can usually not follow a narrative this is as the focus of the video will be on the artist/band itself • This is evident in a video like ‘Passengers – And I love her’ • This music video has Passenger walking around a rough and desolate landscape singing and playing his guitar

More conventions • Costumes are usually made to look retro • A wide variety of camera shots are used in their videos • Effects are sometimes used e.g. the whole music video being in black and white • Props can be important to make an indie video look realistic for an example a video set in a studio will need props like guitars or drum kits
