A Definition Of Artificial Intelligence Smart, independent (rule free) analysis of data Applied AI is typically focused on a core set of tasks (vehicles, stocks, etc.) General AI is what we typically refer to as human intelligence (debatable…) Ability to reason Ability to learn, communicate and plan Ability to represent knowledge (including common sense) Ability to become “us”

(Anne Isabella Thackeray Ritchie) Manipulate the above quote…and we have: Teach a machine an instruction it can complete it… Give a machine access to ALL the data, it will learn HOW to deal with it

- 21. Intelligence… The intelligence we want is only as good as the data we feed it… Garbage in, garbage out, how do we deal with this? Narrow focus (applied AI is NOT true AI) Limited scope (Watson won’t lose at Chess, will lose at Charades) And vendor hype clouding it all…

- 23. All The Data All The Time You want TRUE AI…then hand over ALL the data ALL the time. Informed decisions (especially human) HAVE to account for all variables Privacy is no longer an option There will be no barriers between work, life, home, social, etc. Only then can we have true AI or ML that understands “us” Anything else is simply dipping a toe in the water and window dressing
