- 1. The Courteeners – Not Nineteen Forever Concepts The narrative of this video will be the front man (lead singer) lusts over this beautiful young girl who is clearly out of his league. Even though he knows for a fact he is wasting his time because the girl isn’t interested, he still chases her around like a little puppy dog and hopes she will fall for him when in all reality she wont. Meanwhile while he is wasting his time on this girl, he is seeing this older girl who is ready for a serious relationship when all he wants is a physical relationship (sex). This mature girl wants him to commit to her because she’s had relationships like what he wants before and now she is ready for a much more mature serious relationship (maybe even thinking about marriage). So she kind of says to him “what you doing wasting your time chasing this girl around’ ‘you’re not nineteen forever’. He rejects this older girl because he still thinks he has a chance with this young girl who isn’t interested in him. This is his dream girl he can’t think of anything/anyone else but her. His friends all know he is wasting his time and wasting a good relationship with a girl who is just as good as his dream girl ‘bless the band they are doing all they can’ they are telling him she isn’t worth it, he starts to realize he is wasting his time as the second ‘not nineteen forever’ is aimed at himself, he knows he cant keep lusting over this one girl and that he should move on. This older mature girl is getting sick of him being immature and childish she wants to go out for meals in fancy restaurants ‘tea and toast” where he just wants to go out drinking alcohol and going to gig and raves ‘I asked you once I asked you twice I asked you four time if you’d like to dance to that song’. They both know they want different ideas and they’ll never see eye to eye but in the hope of a relationship she try’s her best in the relationship ‘both of them doing all they can’. Basically this is the first idea of a good story line that we have came up with, this idea seems to fit with most of the lyrics so I think our narrative will match the lyrics rather than contrast them. I’m not too sure if this will be our final idea, on the next task we are working on breaking down the lyrics and seeing if the story line fits with all the lyrics if it does then this could well work for our final idea for a music video.
