The paper presents a novel approach for real-time management and monitoring of quality-of-service (QoS) in 5G and beyond cellular networks using a vertical cavity surface emitting laser (VCSEL) that operates as both a laser source and photodetector. This method is explored through a proof-of-concept experiment demonstrating enhanced optical performance and cost-efficiency by leveraging advanced service data provisioning techniques. The results indicate significant improvements in network resource efficiency and scalability essential for next-generation telecommunications.
