This document provides information about an upcoming 2-day workshop on Project ImPACT, an evidence-based intervention that teaches social communication skills to children with autism ages 18 months to 6 years. The workshop will be led by Dr. Brooke Ingersoll, one of the developers of the Project ImPACT curriculum, and will introduce attendees to the intervention techniques through lectures, role plays and small group discussions. Providers wishing to implement the parent training component should also attend a follow-up 1-day workshop on parent training in November.

Project ImPACT: Teaching Social Communication to Children with Autism ABOUT THE WORKSHOP Introductory Workshop Project ImPACT is an evidence‐based intervention that teaches Date: August 23-24, 2012 social communication to children with autism spectrum disorders (ASD) ages 18 months to 6 years. It uses a blend of Time: 8:30-3:00 developmental and naturalistic behavioral intervention strategies that are compatible with a variety of intervention models. The Place: parent training component uses effective methods for teaching parents and can be implemented in either an individual or group Michigan State University format. Human Ecology Building 552 W Circle Dr., Rm 300 This 2‐day Introductory Workshop is open to providers and East Lansing, Michigan parents who would like to use the Project ImPACT intervention 48824 directly with children. It will use a combination of lecture, role play, and small group discussion to introduce attendees to the Project ImPACT intervention techniques. Teaching Social Providers who wish to use the parent training model should also Communication to Children attend the 1‐day Parent Training Workshop that will be held in with Autism early November. A Practitioner's Guide to Parent Training and A Manual for Parents Brooke Ingersoll and Anna Dvortcsak Cost of the 2‐day Introductory Workshop is $300. Parents may register at a discounted rate of $250. CEUs will be available. About the Trainers: The workshop will be conducted by Brooke Ingersoll, Ph.D. and her staff at Michigan State University. Dr. Ingersoll is a licensed psychologist and one of the developers of the curriculum. She has published numerous research articles and book chapters on evidence‐based interventions for children with autism spectrum disorders.
