The Global Librarian
The global librarian and information professional:
Why do the global focus add value to the profession?

”Dynamic capabilities
We define dynamic capabilities as the firm’s ability to integrate,
build, and reconfigure internal and external competences to
address rapidly changing environments. Dynamic capabilities
thus reflect an organization’s ability to achieve new and
innovative forms of competitive advantage given path
dependencies and market positions
(Leonard-Barton, 1992).”
(From Strategic Management Journal, Vol. 18:7, 509–533 (1997)
Dynamic capabilities and strategic management by David J.
Teece, Gary Pisano and Amy Shuen p. 516)
”The concept of dynamic capabilities as a coordinative
management process opens the door to the potential and
incentives, is critical to the understanding of for
interorganizational learning. Researchers (Doz and Shuen,
1990; Mody, 1993) have pointed out that collaborations and
partnerships can be a vehicle for new organizational learning,
helping firms to recognize dysfunctional routines, and
preventing strategic blindspots.”

Conclusion
A learning program created to promote a culture of play and
exploration, this study offers supporting evidence of the benefits
and impact of 23 Mobile Things for PD and for librarians and
administrators to utilize this free, open program for staff training.
Those guiding the development and training of library staff should
consider adapting the model as an inclusive, hands-on learning
opportunity to promote staff use of mobile devices and
technologies.
