A project consists of a set of users, a set of APIs, and billing, authentication, and monitoring settings for those APIs. • Buckets are the basic containers that hold your data. Everything that you store in Cloud Storage must be contained in a bucket. • Objects are the individual pieces of data that you store in Cloud Storage.
- 11. Cloud Storage Terminology • Objects have two components: • object data and object metadata. • Object data is typically a file that you want to store in Cloud Storage. • Object metadata is a collection of name-value pairs that describe various object qualities.
- 12. Cloud Storage Namespace • Cloud Storage uses a flat namespace to store objects. • There is only one Cloud Storage namespace, which means every bucket must have a unique name across the entire Cloud Storage namespace. Object names must be unique only within a given bucket.
- 13. Cloud Storage Lifecycles Storage Classes Google Cloud Storage offers four storage classes. Customers can associate each of their buckets with the storage class most appropriate for their use cases. All of the storage classes are accessed in using the Cloud Storage API, and all offer millisecond access times. All storage classes incur a cost per gigabyte of data stored per month, and egress and data transfer charges may apply.
