Finalizing your website
localization effort
– the review section
Part 14
As we covered in past posts (13/14), the translation
process is very collaborative. Rightfully so, after the
LSP completes the translation, the piece of content
is handed back to your organization for final review.
During this review, your organization should
consider industry terminology, brand identity
nuances, and formatting technicalities. In order to
establish a practical and effective review process, it
is important to follow a couple of guidelines.
Your organization’s reviewers should be native speakers
with good language skills. Furthermore, they should
work at your company and understand all aspects of the
business and industry.
1.Choose the most appropriate in-country reviewers.
2.Choose only one head reviewer per language.
Having one leader is important to settle disputes. This way
one person has the last word, and is responsible for
consolidating all feedback. This also makes the process
smoother by maintaining a consistent tone and style.
3.Communicate and provide materials.
If you find that the piece of content does not meet the
standard your organization was expecting, there was
most likely a misunderstanding of goals. Be sure to
clearly communicate the objectives of each piece of
content to your LSP. Moreover, point back to the
reference materials, glossaries, and style guides you
provided in post #9.
The review section is an opportunity to have the final say in your
content prior to being published. Be sure to spend sufficient time on
this important component of the process. The next post is the final
post in our Website Localization Pro Tips series. Be sure to check
back.
