  • #2: Stakeholder Requirements: Drill down from wants to needs Gain their insight Stakeholders agree and understand on priority and value Define clear objectives: Requirements can be complex and ambiguous. Define clear and concise to make cognitively easy for the team. Align to business objectives: Create a Project Charter with goals scope & milestones Process map current: Use Functional Deployment Maps (swim lanes) to document accountability and identify resource bottlenecks Apply Lean Techniques & Tools: Attack pre-requisites to uninterrupted and one-piece flow Setup reduction (SMED) Workplace organization (5S) Waste reduction (8 wastes) Over-production Waiting Transportation Over-processing Inventories Motion Correction Unused talent Implement solution: Pilot solution for course correction Initiate continuous improvement: Formulate a team with users, support and management. Ask such questions as; Can you improve the speed of your processes? What quality issues do you have and how can they be eliminated? Would additional training or more detailed instructions assist you? Can technology and better supply of digital information help you? Are there methods & processes used in other industries that could benefit you? Sustain the gains: Make workplace organization (5S) routine to avoid reverting back. Sorting – separating the necessary from the unnecessary Simplifying – organizing (sequence) and arranging Standardizing – having a standardized process that everybody follows Sweeping – visually scanning and physically cleaning the area Sustaining – ensure continuation of the results from Sort, Simplify & Standardize   - 6th S – safety –a safe work station and process to create value - Use control charts to confirm capability after above changes implemented
