This document discusses the successful implementation of Slack as a communication tool in the Computer Science department at UCL, replacing traditional methods like email and Moodle. A pilot study involving 69 students revealed that Slack enhanced engagement, fostered community, and facilitated better information sharing, leading to over 116,000 messages exchanged in six months. The positive feedback from participants has encouraged plans to expand Slack usage across the entire department, aiming to revolutionize communication in higher education.
