3.Components of FD
4.How to Construct FD Table
5.Types of FD
6.How we graphically represents FD
A Statistical data consist of a list of numbers
related to a research, among those numbers, few
may be repeated twice & more than twice.
 The repeating number in a data is termed as
frequency
 Distribution: Arrangement of data according to
the values of variable characteristics called
distribution
Student were asked to rate the quality of teaching
at RIPHAH as being excellent, above average,
average, below average, or poor.
Example
Below Average Average Above Average
Above Average Above Average Above Average
Above Average Below Average Below Average
Average Poor Poor
Above Average Excellent Above Average

Frequency Distribution
The organization of data into group/classes
along with number of observation called
frequency distribution or simply frequency. It is
denoted by ƒ.
Objectives
of
Frequency Distribution
1. Condense & Large data can be summarized.
2. We can analyze the nature of data.
3. Describe all variables types
4. Facilitate graphical representation of data
Components
of
Frequency Distribution
1. Class Interval: Upper Limit – Lower Limit
2. Tally Mark: Stroke against each frequency is observed
3. Class Frequency: Number of Observation falling in each class
4. Class Mark/Mid Point: (Lower Limit + Upper Limit)/2

Histogram
A graph consisting of bars of equal
width drawn adjacent to each other.
The horizontal scale represents the
classes of quantitative data values
and the vertical scale represents the
frequencies. The heights of the bars
correspond to the frequency values.

Pie Chart
A pie chart or circle chart is a
circular statistical graph, which is
divided into slices to illustrate
numerical proportion. A graph
depicting qualitative data as slices of
a circle, size of slice is proportional
to frequency count.
