• An approximation of a product (or system) or
its components in some form for a definite
purpose in its implementation.
Types of prototypes described along the three aspects of implementation, form

vital role in the process of creating successful products
because it speeds up the new product development
process
• Early-stage design/concept validation of the form, fit,
and function of the design

the concept and to finalise the specification
