Review:
What are the materials that
can be bent?
What happens to solid
materials when bent?
DAY 3
ACTIVITY 3: “ What happens
to the Solid Materials when
Pressed?”
STUDY THE PICTURES GIVEN
BELOW:
What do you understand about
the pictures?
Describe the action shown in
the picture?
Pressed – to reshape or make
compact by applying steady force;
compress
Let’s Find Out!
What do you think will happen when
solid materials are pressed?
We are going to investigate
this in our activity today.
GROUP ACTIVITY
What do we need?
•Paper cup
•Banana
•Pandesal
•Dough
•Wood
•Large stone
•Empty glass bottle
•Manila paper
•marker
What to do?
1. Using a piece of wood or empty glass
bottle or large stone, press each of
given materials. Observe what
happens to each of the material.
2. Record your observations in your
activity sheet.
Material Observation
Paper cup
banana
pandesal
dough
Guide Questions:
1. What happened to the solid
materials when they were
pressed?
2. Was a new material formed when
solid material was pressed?
3. What characteristics of solid were
evident in this experiment?
Give situations where
pressing of solid materials
is applied.
Changes in Solid Materials when Pressed.pptx
•What happen to solid materials
when pressed?
•Was a new material formed when
solid materials was pressed?
REMEMBER THESE:
 Solid materials can be pressed.
 When pressed, these materials may change
their size and shape.
 Other solid materials may also change their
texture when pressed.
 However, no new material is formed
because only the physical appearance of
the material is changed.
Assignment:
Each group will bring the following
materials for the next activity:
1 pc. block of wood
1 pc. Empty tin can (lata)
1 pc. Small sheet of galvanized iron
1 pc. hammer
